CANADIAN SINGER & SONGWRITER LEITH ROSS ANNOUNCES DEBUT ALBUM TO LEARN OUT MAY 19TH

This debut record o mine was written during a couple of major changes in my life. Its about going through big transitions. Moving, losing, and making friends, deep hurt and betrayal, real and steadfast love, and the years in which I felt like I was truly growing up and becoming something different. Mostly its about learning. About myself, about the world, about people, about love. The kind of love I want to foster and nurture until my dying day. To live is to learn and to learn is the best. At least thats the gist of it. Leith Ross

Today, buzzing Winnipeg singer, songwriter, and artist Leith Ross (TheyThem Pronouns) reveals their highly anticipated debut album To Learn is set for release on May 19th. To celebrate the exciting announcement, they drop their most personal and meaningful song to date, Guts.

Leith says, This song is about the times in my life that I have been sexually assaultedexperienced any kind of sexual violence, and the ways that the people in my life have let me down after those events occurred. When I wrote it, it was to give myself permission to feel the whole range of emotions that started to consume me. It has a lot of rage, hurt, defeat, betrayal, and even forgiveness. I hope it can be helpful.

A few weeks ago, Leith unveiled their spring 2023 headline tour dates across North America, UK, and Europewhich sold out nearly instantly, resulting in venue upgrades and new dates added across the tour. It kicks off in Bristol on April 11th and makes stops at Londons Lafayette on April 17th, Los Angeles Lodge Room on May 23rd, Brooklyns Music Hall of Williamsburg on June 6th, Torontos The Danforth Music Hall on June 10th, and more.

Leiths recent single (You) On My Arm was their first release of 2023 and follows their previous viral track Well Never Have Sex and Orlando. Clash declared it a celebration of queer love, while Ones To Watch said, Leith Ross melts hearts with (You) On My Arm. The breakout Well Never Have Sex has amassed over 41 million Spotify streams and 1 million video views to date. In support of their new music, Leith performed sold-out headline shows across North America last fall, as well as supported Lord Huron in Canada and Andy Shauf and Helena Deland in Europe on various tours last year. Not to mention, they were the recipient of the inaugural John Prine Songwriter Fellowship at last years Newport Folk Festival.

Hailing from outside of Ottawa, Ontario, Leith Ross embraced music at a young age, channeling emotional confessions through softly strummed chords. Recorded live, they made their debut with the independent Motherwell EP in 2020. Beyond prominent editorial playlisting, it incited widespread critical applause across US and Canada. Leith maintained this momentum in 2021 with the Id Have To Think About It, and the title track has notably amassed nearly 12 million Spotify streams to date. With a rising profile on TikTok and among tastemakers, Leith signed to Republic Records in 2022. Stay tuned for more new music to come from Leith Ross this year!
