Calexico

Calexico to perform 20th anniversary tour of Feast of Wire

In early 2003, Calexico released their seminal album Feast of Wire, the album that truly marked the duos critical and commercial breakthrough. Beginning in June, the band will play a series of headline shows across the year performing the landmark Feast of Wire in full as well as a slew of beloved songs from the bands full repertoire. In addition to the headline dates, the band will play a handful of festivals as well across Europe.

Praised by NPR for their sprawling, cross-cultural indie rock, Calexico has spent the better part of the past three decades exploring the dusty musical borderlands of the American Southwest, crafting singular, cinematic songs as mysterious and magnificent as the arid desert landscapes that inspired them. Founded in Tucson, AZ, by guitaristsinger Joey Burns and drummer John Convertino, the band first emerged to widespread acclaim in the mid-1990s with a string of arresting, evocative records that blurred the lines between their roots, rock, and Latin influences, but it was 2003s 'Feast of Wire' that truly marked the duos commercial and critical breakthrough, earning them their first appearances on the Billboard charts and rave reviews everywhere from The Guardian to Pitchfork, who called the record genuinely masterful.

In the years to come, Calexico would go on to release eight more similarly well-received studio albums (including 'Years To Burn', their GRAMMY-nominated 2019 collaboration with frequent tourmate Iron & Wine), work with everyone from Willie Nelson and Jim James to Nancy Sinatra and Neko Case, produce and perform on Amos Lees 1 album 'Mission Bell, score multiple feature films, earn festival slots everywhere from Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza to Glastonbury and Roskilde, and hit the road with the likes of Wilco, Pavement, Arcade Fire, and Andrew Bird, among others, prompting The Washington Post to hail the bands live show as near-flawless and WNYC to marvel at the groups ability to both roar like Sonic Youth and whisper like Elliott Smith onstage.

Calexicos 2022 album, El Mirador', stands both as a lookout point and beacon in the dark; an opportunity to search inwards, ponder our connections to the Earth and its people, and hopefully illuminate a path forward. After decades on the road Calexico's music remains boundless and romantic, still gazing upon the horizon in search of their next adventure.
