WARDRUNA announces Summer Tour Dates 2023

Wardruna are very excited to announce their Summer Tour 2023! They will be headlining a series of concerts taking place in a selection of outstanding venues across Europe. The tour includes the previously announced Nordic Night on Borgholm, as well as Tons of Rock and Wacken Open Air.

Join Wardruna on these special shows and locations during summer 2023! Einar Selvik comments: It is with great pleasure we announce our summer tour for 2023. We will be hosting our shows in a selection of outstanding venues and festivals across Europe. Depending on where you are and what you prefer, there will be opportunities to see us indoors or under the open sky, and in seated or unseated venues.

One of the highlights of this tour will be the Nordic Night Borgholm event, taking place in the magnificent 13th century castle Borgholm on the coast of Sweden, July 08, 2023. Consisting of a full-day event including concerts, workshops and Wardruna meet & greet, Wardruna will welcome the Norwegian Sami indigenous singer Mari Boine together with her band as special guest and Wardruna's opening act. Mari is a world-renowned award-winning musician and a pioneer. She has been an inspiration for Wardrunas music throughout the years!

Einar comments on the Nordic Night on Borgholm: This is the first time we arrange Nordic Night in one of the Nordic countries and this time, we are fortunate to have the opportunity to include workshops and even a meet&greet session beside a wonderful support act: Mari Boine. This will add more context to our art and therefore potentially even more depth to the concert experience.

The latest critically acclaimed, multi-chart success album Kvitravn (White Raven) continues where the Runaljod trilogy left off, yet it marks a distinct evolution in our sound. The album features a broad selection of both traditional and historical instruments such as Kravik-lyre, Trossingen-lyre, Taglharpa, Sotharpa, Langeleik, Crwth, Goat-horn, Lur, Bronze-lur, flute, the Moraharpa. The record also features guest appearances by a small group of prominent traditional singers, spearheaded by Kirsten Brten Berg, one of the most important custodians of Norwegian traditional song. Throughout eleven songs, Kvitravn discusses Northern sorcery, spirit-animals, shadows, nature and animism, the wisdom and meanings of certain myths, various Norse spiritual concepts, and the relation between sage and songs.
